Tecniplas exports composite chemical storage tanks to Argentina – CompositesWorld

The composite reservoirs will be used for chemical storage at a pulp mill.

Tecniplas (Cabreúva, Brazil), manufacturer of composite tanks and special equipment, announces that it has dispatched two reservoirs to Argentina. The tanks will be installed in a pulp mill operated by the company Arauco in Puerto Esperanza.

Measuring 13.5 meters tall and 4.5 meters in diameter, the larger of the two tanks has been designed to store up to 200 cubic meters of chlorine dioxide, under a pressure of -8 WG. “One of its differentials is the fact of having thermal insulation guaranteed by polyurethane,” explains Luís Gustavo Rossi, director of Tecniplas.

The second reservoir, measuring 11.3 meters tall and 4 meters in diameter, with 135 cubic meters of capacity, will be used to store chlorine, chlorate solution and sodium hypochlorite at a temperature of 80°C, under atmospheric pressure. “Its construction project contemplates an internal slope of 2%, which allows the fast and safe depletion of the tank,” Rossi says.

Each was manufactured in one piece and includes a series of nozzles and accessories. The tanks are reportedly able to withstand wind loads up to 45 m/s (162 km/h). Arauco has had Tecniplas equipment at its Chilean plants since the 1990s, according to Rossi.

In 2018, exports accounted for 22% of Tecniplas's revenues, the company reports. With increasing numbers of projects throughout Latin America, branching out to the mining and chemical industries, Rossi predicts that exports will grow this year for the company.
The company also recently manufactured a composite scrubber for the treatment of biogas.
